Part of Black Birth Matters 2026: Bodily Autonomy Across the South
Adopting the structure of the United Nations Universal Periodic Review, this convening brings state legislators together to bear witness to the human rights concerns of directly impacted people across the Gulf South and Southeast. Panelists share their lived experience and the human rights concern they carry, and legislators listen and receive that testimony.
A human rights framing will open the day to establish the international obligations context. The session is then organized around three thematic panels:
